Roger Federer Career- Early Stage

Since the very beginning of Roger's career he has been reaching the highest standards in whatever he has attempted in his professional life.

Roger became the member of the ATP tour in the year 1998 at Gstaad. He then went on participating in the Swiss Davis Cup team as his debut match and finished as the youngest player to be ranked in the top 100, against Italy.

In the year 2000 Roger made it to the semi finals of the Sydney Olympics but unfortunately he lost the match and thus the bronze medal in opposition with the famous player of France, Arnaud Di Pasquale. The very first final of Roger's career was in the same year, in Marseille, which he lost to the exemplary player Marc Rosset.

His performance in the Masters Series and even in the Grand Slams was not as impressive as it was to be in the later years, still he was ranked 29 th in the year 2000 which was one of the very early stages of Roger's career.

The first time ever in which Roger emerged victorious in an ATP tournament was in Milan in the month of February of 2001. At the same time along with this great achievement, Roger also won three consecutive matches for Switzerland in the 3-2 Davis Cup over the United States.

Roger then succeeded in reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals, where he turned the table of his career to secure a worldwide rank of 13 th from 29 th last year. It was itself a great achievement to defeat a four time champion and seven time Wimbledon Champion Pete Sampras in the fourth round. It was a very interesting match to watch, as the fight was very close till the extreme end of the game. He went on further but lost a match while competing with Tim Henman.

It was in the year 2002 that Roger played his very first first ATP Masters Series (AMS) final in which he was defeated by Andre Agassi at the Miami Masters. The next AMS final that Roger achieved in his winning books was in Hamburg.

This was in fact another breakthrough achievement in Roger's career when he won the two Davis Cup singles competing with the previously ranked number one worldwide the two Russians Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Marat Safin. Though only recently he had had bad days, with losses at the French Open, Wimbledon, and also the U.S open. To add to the mishaps his Australian Coach Peter Carter passed away in a car accident before the match. Roger tried to stay calm and showed the world he was blessed with powers to have an emotional control while working for his profession.

Roger was now ranked at number 6 of the ATP Champions Race at the end of the year 2002. He also got the opportunity for the very first time to qualify for the tennis Masters Cup. Though he did not have a very dynamic period out there, he lost in the semifinals of the tournament against Lleyton Hewitt.
